Colors of Nature

LIFE IN COLOR

Birds of Paradise, Macaws, Kingfishers – they are the epitome of colour. Though even monkeys come in a variety of colours, they are a lot less colourful. And us, of course, white, yellow, brown, black and the many hues in between. On any colourless day we rue about the fight for white supremacy over black subservience going on endlessly. Life cannot go on without colour. Imagine a white knight is so much better than a knight and definitely far superior to a blackguard. But that is black and white (I’m not talking of whiskey) and some think they are not colours at all! So we created greenmailing, yellow livered blackmailers and then went green with envy or caught the morning blues depending on whether we were poor or rich. Purple-hearts beaten black & blue, someone will go red in the face or get a pink blush – the red-eyed bandits. There, you really do not have to wait for paint companies to come up with colours; we can do it with flying colours – whatever they be! Some years back, an ad agency came with the line – when you see colour, think of us – for a paint company. So go ahead, help the lexicographers, come up with something cheeky/boring/staid for all the colours that nature can create! Which reminds me, I’ve to paint the front door, or, my wife will pour that orange-melon-yellow combo (I created) over my head!
