Non Destructive Testing

NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

NDT was travelling from UK to AP for the nth time as his suit was being stitched by a renowned Hyderabadi darji. The darji was located very close to the High Court where he was trying out another suit, this time, in keeping with his ancestors’ wishes, a paternal suit.

NDT was fond of a brisk evening walk on the Necklace Road which was bang in front of his house when he was last posted in Hyderabad. On one such evening, years ago, it so happened that a young man, also on a brisk evening walk, wished him. NDT, not one to ignore such niceties, also wished him. This continued for many days, nay, weeks and years. One fine day, the young man told him that he would like to bring his mother to visit NDT at RB. NDT, being a politico at heart and not one to lose the chance of winning even a single vote, invited the young man to bring his mother to visit him.

On the appointed day, the young man along with his mother visited NDT at RB. His aged mother expressed surprise that her son knew NDT. NDT, being the polite politico, mentioned that the young man was like his beta. The visit went off well what with dinner followed by post-prandial perambulations in the vast gardens of RB.

Another year went past and NDT forgot about the incident altogether and also, he did not see that young man again on his walks. One fine morning, as NDT was sipping irani chai and reading the daily news, he noticed a small article stating that he had a son born out of wedlock or any other lock. He was flabbergasted and let out a shriek along with a lot of gas (probably because of the hyderabadi samosas he was wont to have along with the chai). With the load off his stomach, he could think clearly and recalled the meeting with the young man (he met on his brisk walks) and his mother at RB. The young man apparently claimed that he was the son of NDT.

One thing led to another and NDT was now spending time chatting with judges and lawyers discussing his suits. The issue had reached a stage where he was dared to prove that the young man was not his son. The only way this could be done was through non-destructive testing. So NDT was asked to donate some blood to prove his innocence, that is, he did not know what he was doing with the young man’s mother in the vast gardens of RB. However, NDT refused, saying that he did know exactly what he was doing with the young man’s mother in the vast gardens of RB!
